Notifications and Alerts

Notification Center

Manage notification rules, recent notifications, and delivery destinations for Saved Searches.

# Notification Center

The Notification Center is the central place in Kommon Poll for managing how your team receives, reviews, and controls notifications from Saved Searches.

To access it, go to:

Settings -> Notification Center

The Notification Center contains three main pages:

  • Rules
  • Recent notifications
  • Destinations

Together, these pages allow you to define when notifications should be sent, review notifications that have already been triggered, and manage the destinations where notifications are delivered.

A simple way to understand the workflow is:

Saved Search -> Rule -> Notification Destination -> Recent notifications

1. Rules

The Rules page is where notification rules for your team are created and managed.

A notification rule connects a Saved Search with the conditions that determine when a notification should be sent and where it should be delivered.

Kommon Poll currently supports different notification types, including:

  • Report - Sends a scheduled summary of Saved Search activity.
  • Live Mention Alert - Sends notifications when newly collected mentions match selected conditions.
  • Spike Alert - Sends notifications when unusual or significant increases in conversation activity are detected.

Each rule can contain one notification type. If you need different notification types for the same Saved Search, create separate rules.

Managing Existing Rules

From the Rules page, users can manage existing notification rules according to their team permissions.

Available actions can include:

  • View a rule
  • Edit a rule
  • Enable or disable a rule
  • Delete a rule
  • Review the latest delivery status
  • View notification history

Disabling a rule stops new notifications from being sent until the rule is enabled again.

Creating a New Rule

For step-by-step instructions on creating your first notification rule, including notification type, schedule, filters, and recipients, see:

Setting Up Notification Rules

Role-Based Rule Management

The notification rules a user can manage depend on their role within the team.

Team Admins

Team Admins can manage notification rules across the team.

They can:

  • Create rules for their own Saved Searches
  • Create rules for Saved Searches owned by other team members
  • Edit team notification rules
  • Enable or disable team rules
  • Delete team notification rules

This allows Team Admins to centrally manage notification activity across the team.

Other Team Members

Other team members can create and manage notification rules associated with their own Saved Searches.

They can:

  • Create rules for Saved Searches they own
  • Edit their own notification rules
  • Enable or disable their own rules
  • Delete their own rules
  • Select destinations available to the team

Rules associated with Saved Searches owned by another team member may appear as:

Team rule - Read only

A read-only team rule can be viewed but cannot be modified by a user who does not have the required permission.

2. Recent notifications

The Recent notifications page provides a centralized history of notifications triggered through the Notification Center.

Use this page to review notification activity and confirm whether configured rules are generating and delivering notifications as expected.

Recent notifications can help you understand:

  • Which notification was triggered
  • Which Saved Search it relates to
  • Which notification type generated it
  • Which delivery channel was used
  • The notification status
  • The notification severity
  • When the notification was triggered

For example, a successfully delivered notification may appear as:

Delivered -> Live Mention Alert -> WhatsApp

Filtering Recent Notifications

You can narrow the notification history using available filters such as:

  • Saved Search
  • Notification Type
  • Channel
  • Status
  • Severity
  • From Date
  • To Date

For example, select WhatsApp from the Channel filter to review notifications delivered through WhatsApp.

The Recent notifications page is useful when you need to:

  • Confirm whether a rule was triggered
  • Check whether a notification was delivered
  • Review previous notification activity
  • Investigate notification delivery issues
  • Filter notification history by Saved Search, channel, status, or time period

3. Destinations

The Destinations page manages the available channels and recipient destinations where Kommon Poll notifications can be delivered.

A destination defines where the notification is delivered, while the notification rule defines what should trigger the notification and when it should be sent.

Available notification destinations can include:

  • Email
  • WhatsApp
  • Slack
  • Microsoft Teams

Email

Email allows notifications and reports to be delivered directly to selected email recipients.

It can be used for:

  • Scheduled reports
  • Live alerts
  • Monitoring updates
  • Other notification types supported by the selected rule

Email recipients are selected when configuring the notification rule.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp allows notifications and reports to be delivered directly to WhatsApp numbers available to the team.

The WhatsApp section under Destinations allows you to review and manage the WhatsApp numbers available for notification delivery.

A WhatsApp number must be properly configured and available to the team before it can be selected when creating or editing a notification rule.

Notification conditions such as sentiment, platform, topic, intent, engagement, schedule, and trigger conditions are not configured from the WhatsApp destination. These settings are configured within the notification rule.

For full WhatsApp setup and management instructions, see:

Setting Up a WhatsApp Destination

Slack

Slack can be used as a notification destination when a Slack destination has been configured and made available to the team.

Once configured, Slack can be selected during notification rule setup to receive relevant alerts or reports.

For full Slack setup and management instructions, see:

Setting Up a Slack Destination

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams can also be used as a notification destination when a Teams destination has been configured and made available.

This allows teams using Microsoft Teams to receive Kommon Poll notifications within their existing communication workflow.

Using Multiple Destinations

Where supported, the same notification rule can use more than one delivery method.

For example:

Critical Negative Mention -> Email + WhatsApp

This allows important notifications to reach relevant users through multiple channels while using the same notification conditions.

How the Notification Center Works Together

The three pages within the Notification Center serve different purposes:

Page Purpose
Rules Define what should trigger a notification, when it should be sent, and who should receive it.
Recent notifications Review notifications that have already been triggered and check their delivery activity.
Destinations Manage the available channels and destinations where notifications can be delivered.

In simple terms:

  • Rules control notification behavior.
  • Destinations control where notifications are delivered.
  • Recent notifications show notification activity that has already occurred.

The Notification Center provides one centralized place to manage the complete notification workflow in Kommon Poll.
